Well let me tell you just a little about myself. I am an old goat (as my daughter calls me) who likes to ride my Victory motorcycle with my best friend: my lovely wife Sylvia. She is the inspiration for the bike in the first place. So I went out to get myself a Harley Fireman addition, but she did not like the color red. The story goes on - you see I have this friend that said "he could build me anything" - the catch is that he is the local Victory dealer here in La Grande. He said he would build me a Victory Cruiser and I asked what it would look like so he sent me over to his Big Daddy in Milton-Freewater, OR, who owns Stateline Polaris where there was one on display. The catch is, I am a retired fire fighter and red is their color, but my best friend (my Wife) said no to red, but as we walked into the show room at Stateline there was this beautiful black and silver cruiser setting there and my best friend (my wife) said "BUY THIS ONE" so I said "OK, if you insist." Well that was in 2004 and at the present time we have over 46,000 miles on it. Because Starkey Station store is open 24-7 during the hunting seasons we only get to ride during the summer. We usually make it home for the weekends, but if we don’t we have a neighbor that runs the store during the summer. I Love my Victory.

As I stated before, I am a retired fire fighter. I worked for the Oregon City Fire Dept. for 24 years. In 1994 I retired and like a friend asked "What in the world did you buy a 24/7 job for?" [the Starkey Station store] I am still trying to figure that out. I think it was because I majored in business while in college and I enjoy doing business.

The main reason I bought the store was to get back onto the east side of the Blue Mountains. Before the service I lived in Boise Idaho, Spokane, and Walla Walla Washington.
