Welcome to Starkey Station | |
Several friends have ask about Sylvia and I and how we are doing. This is a short run down on how things are going with Sylvia and myself since the May 14, 07 problem we had in Boise. As most of you know we were hit by a car while on our annual Mothers Day motorcycle ride. It seems the older gentleman was trying to make a left turn that would led him down an off ramp to a freeway and we were in his way.As a result Sylvia got a cut leg and bruised knees which required about 20 stitches. She is still having some swollen knee problems and is taking pain meds to help her do her daily chores which for the last 9 months has mostly been taking care of all my chores and needs. I thank God for having such a wonderful wife that keeps a cheerful attitude through this whole ordeal. She is not to sure if she is ready to jump back on the bike yet. We will see !For myself the problem was I lost most of the flesh on the left foot and it has been taken a while regenerating it. With out the flesh it troughs all my weight to the inside of the foot when I stand and that transfers up through the compound fracture of the tip / fib into the hip that was blown apart. That has caused me to get back on the crutches to reduce the swelling and get the shoes made so I can walk right.I am a Vet. and last month I went in for my annual physical. The doctor looked at my foot and Said "So what is this" I told her about the accident and she asked what insurance I had. I told her I had the VA and Medicare. Her response was "Well we need to get x rays of this and send you to the wound care unit. They started medical care of the open wounds and set up therapy and a appointment with the foot specialist for getting shoes made. So that is how things are going now and yes I can't wait for spring to get here and through my leg over the new bike that I have in the garage right beside the one under repair. Ps: All this medical care has not improved my looks at all. DARN

So, who is this Dave Beede anyhow?
Well let me tell you just a little about myself.
I am an old goat (as my daughter calls me) who likes to ride my Victory motorcycle with my best friend: my lovely wife Sylvia. She is the inspiration for the bike in the first place. So I went out to get myself a Harley Fireman addition, but she did not like the color red. The story goes on - you see I have this friend that said "he could build me anything" - the catch is that he is the local Victory dealer here in La Grande. He said he would build me a Victory Cruiser and I asked what it would look like so he sent me over to his Big Daddy in Milton-Freewater, OR who owns Stateline Polaris where there was one on display. The catch is, I am a retired fire fighter and red is their color, but my best friend (my Wife) said no to red, but as we walked into the show room at Stateline there was this beautiful black and silver cruiser setting there and my best friend (my wife) said "BUY THIS ONE" so I said "OK, if you insist." Well that was in 2004 and at the present time we have over 46000 miles on it. Because Starkey Station store is open 24-7 during the hunting seasons we only get to ride during the summer. We usually make it home for the weekends, but if we don’t we have a neighbor that runs the store during the summer. I Love my Victory.
The main reason I bought the store was to get back onto the east side of the Blue Mountains. Before the service I lived in Boise Idaho, Spokane, and Walla Walla Washington. |
